  1. Sand Paper Gingerbread Men: use fine sandpaper and have them trace a cookie cutter on it, cut it out and decorate it with crayons, punch a hole in the top and it's a Christmas Tree Ornament.

Popsicle Stick Stars : just like it sounds, glue them together in a star shape and decorate them with anything available (markers, paint, glitter, sequins...) use pipe cleaners to make the letters J O Y and glue them to the star.

Painted Orniments: Find the clear plastic bulbs and let the kids put a couple different colors of paint in it and swirl it around.

Snow Men: using a wooden or plastic skewer (or a hot glue gun) help them put 2 or 3 styrofoam balls together and decorate with fabric and other odds and ends.

Check out the local craft stores, they usually have cheap crafts that are preschool appropriate.  Use Oriental Trading or LTD if you have more kids/more of a budget.  Most of all use your imagination, the kids will like doing simple things like stringing cheerios or fruit loops on string (and it will help develop thier fine motor skills!!)

  2. In my kindergarten class we do several fun things:

footprint reindeer, handprint santas, dough ornaments, plastic spoon reindeers.  Try the website www.kellyskindergarten.com she has several cute ideas.

  3. You can make a very simple reindeer puppet using a small paper lunch bag. The antlers are made from handprints traced on construction paper.

Turn a paper plate into a beautiful angel

Make an adorable wreath from your childrens handprints.

Make a snowman that you can wear as a necklace or use as an ornament

Make a cute snowman decoration using two paper plates

  5. My son just started going to kindergarden this year, his class made gingerbread houses and decorated them with different kinds of candy. they made decorations by using paper plates with green paint and then hung them up to make a tree.

  6. there are lots of things you can do with that age group...they can decorate stockings or ornaments.

You can also look on orientaltrading.com and buy cheap craft kits

  7. we expect our xmas father s visit

  8. One of my favorite activities around the holidays is to decorate Christmas Tree cakes.  All you need is to bake "cupcakes" in those paper water cones (the ones used for water coolors), and unwrap them after they cool.  You can use sprinkles, frosting, and anything else that comes to mind to decorate them.  As a kid, we also decorated plastic ornaments, but that can be costly for you.  You could also make stockings out of construction paper!  That's fun too.  Snowflakes are always fun as well; and you can go further and decorate them with glitter and hang them around the room.

  9. Hmmmm... well, when I was in preschool my teacher bought each of us a stocking and baked cookies. She let us decorate the cookies (fun but pretty messy) and did sort of a workshop thing where we made projects to 'fill up our stockings'. There were coloring pages and ornament decorating and I think we made/decorated picture frames too. That was really fun. Basically she put stuff out and let us enjoy it.

  10. I once had the kids make votive holders...well, more like decorate them.  I went to Big Lots and found really simple votive holders (they were only like 30 cents a piece) and had the kids paper mache them.  They tore up pieces of colorful tissue paper, and then used watered down Elmer's glue to apply the pieces.  (The kids were also pre-K.)  You have to do probably 2 or 3 layers of the paper, but they came out really cute.  Then I got a pack of tea lights at the dollar store to add to the holders, and we were set to go!

  11. Picture ornaments are fun to do. Try this website for more ideas:  www.first-school.ws

I have this site bookmarked and refer to it often.

  12. take the individuals picture, then make some sort of christmas tree ornament..using doilies, or something.....parents love that sort of thing..
