IE6 and Windows XP Problems?

I have 3 problems:

1. My IE6, on windows XP, is not displaying any images from webpages. There are no x's in their place; its like a sunk in box that has that tiny box with a red square, a blue triangle and a green circle and the name of the image. I do not know how to get the images back!

2. A lot of my windows software, like MS word, shut down at random times with no warning. I will be typing away and BAM! It closes down randomly. How can I fix this?

3. On the start menu, the place that shows all the recent applications you have opened it blank. How can I fix that?

Thank you for your time!

  1. Sounds like you have Show Pictures turned off.  Try this:

1.Click the Tools->Internet Options menu item.

    2.Select the Advanced Tab.

    3.Under Multimedia, select Show Pictures.

    4.Click OK

The sudden program shutdowns could be caused by any of many reasons.

It's possible the recent program list size is set to zero.  Try this:

    1. Right-click on the Start button and select Properties.

    2. Click the Customize button.

    3. Under Programs, check the number in the "Number of programs on Start Menu" list box.  If it's zero, set it to a value, then OK out of everything.

    Hope that helps.
