  1. I also work in Ohio, and testing accomodations must be written in the IEP and followed for all testing situations, not just the big ones.  The accomodation for time is generally written as 'extended time' so it's likely not limited to 2 hours or anything like that.  As has been stated, most students take the same test in Ohio, but there are alternate assessments available for moderately to severely retarded children.

  2. IEP kids can have longer time for tests ONLY if their IEP states they can. Not everyone with an IEP can get longer time on tests.

  3. Students on IEP's take the same test.  But as the others had also stated the accommodations completely depend on each individual on an IEP.  Some get extended time, the test read out loud to them and even scribes.  I also work in an Ohio school and we were told this was the last year for scribes.

  4. IEP will allow for extra time if it is specified within the IEP.

as the parent this is something you can request at the IEP annual review.

  5. I don't live in Ohio, but here in Illinois the types of test accommodations you are talking about would be specified in the student's IEP.  It is individually determined for each student based on his/her needs.  They don't actually take a different test, unless the student participates in the Illinois Alternate Assessment which is only for students with significant disabilities.

    Hope this helps!
