IF I HAVE A COMPUTER and don't know the password how do i open it or change it

need to change the password or do i have to reinstall os to get to the pc..I dont have a password so I just want to open it so i can change it or what can i do

Depends, what kind of password is it?  Is it a boot password in the CMOS? If it is it will come up befre the OS is loaded.  those are easy to get around you open up the computer pull out the big watch battery and start it up and wala no more password.  If its a password for the OS im not sure how to get around it.

Well it depends. First what operating system are you running? And second why do you have a computer and don't know the password? are you just trying to break into somebody's comp?

Well 2 options 1. reinstall the operating system which wipes the computer clean 2. boot in safe mode enter administer as the username and nothing in the password then go to Start>control panel>user accounts and remove the password on the user account

I find it hard to believe that they don't have the password - have they not used it in years?

I guess you;d have to reformat it.

I'll take your word that it's YOUR computer =p

but start the computer, and go into safe mode.  (F5 i believe).  Enter the Administrator account, and access all of the settings from there.
