I ALWAYS WONDERED IF DIFFERENT OCTANE GASOLINES, IF MIXED, CREATE A NEW, IN BETWEEN OCTANE GASOLINE, OR THEY STAY APART AND BURN SEPARATE.

  1. yes, they will mix. Half a tank of 89 and half of 93 will give you a tank of 91.

that's may be what the gas pump does, it mixes some sort of octane concentrate with the low octane gas at the pump, so the gas station doesn't have to store 3 or 4 different grades. But that's just a guess.

And if i weren't lazy, I'd do that all the time, as my car requires 91 or higher, and most places have 89 or 93 only. So I wind up spending the extra for the 93.

  2. The lower octane will burn first and then the higher octane. Just kidding!

    Of course they'll mix.

  3. They will mix but you dont what to do this.............

Most vehicles require regular "87" octane gas and using a higher octane rating will most likely not give you better fuel mileage.

While higher octane gas is required in some vehicles, its use is to prevent "knocking or pinging" within the engine of your vehicle.

Using a much higher octane rated gas when it is not required can cause the fuel to not burn completely.

This results in poorer fuel economy.

Some vehicles require this higher octane gas and not using it can leave one with undesirable results.

As always, consult your owners manual.

  4. yeah, they mix but it is really BAD to mix gases. it ruins your car.
