  2. Median FICO score is 723. So 600 isn't that good either.

    If you have credit cards, pay them off.  A big part of your score is based on the ratio of credit card debt to available credit limit.  Carrying balances of more than 30% hurts your score.  Paying off the balances will give you a quick boost.

    Best way to improve you score is consistent, on time payment history of at least 24 months.   The longer the payment history, the better the score.
