  1. Why didn't he do his CS?

Like the Person before me said, depends on the Judges mood or the Circumstances.

  2. 5 days sounds like a very minor offense.  Tell him he needs to do this and get this behind him.  Life is much too short to worry about going to jail over an incident with such a small penalty.  Eventually, yes, he could end up doing the time in jail.  Certainly, his court costs and fines will be more every time he has to go court.

  3. Wow, stop yelling.

Yes, he could go to jail.  It depends upon the judge.  And what mood the judge is in that day.  He could also just be given additional community service, depends upon the judge.

  4. He's pushing his luck.  5 days Community Service is nothing and it is a minor consequence.  If he keeps this up, the judge will see that he doesn't give a ****, and is not responsible, and is not taking his consequences seriously.  Therefore, the judge will order some more serious consequence.  Depending on what type of crime he committed, I don't think he will go to jail.  But who knows?  Judge could throw him in there for violating his terms.  Tell him to quit s******g around.
