  1. Who would mind paying $.25 more per gallon for gas? It seems most people would. There is already a hefty federal, state, and local (in some places) tax on gas. It would slightly cut down on driving, which may be indirectly good.

How about $.25 increase (there already is a sizable cigarette tax) in cigarette tax? This would also slightly cut down on the number of smokers, and slightly increase the "black market" cigarettes.

Because people change their behaviors based on incentives, then taxes on items like this never bring in as much money as people expect. Certainly not enough to even make a dent in health care for every American.

  2. Thr Democrats are lost as it is let alone raising taxes on the impoverished economy.Wake up.

  3. cigarettes are bad for you, and if you get gas on you then you will explode.

  4. 1. Some would mind.  Some would not.

    2. A $0.25 tax increase would not be enough money to pay for health care for every American.

  5. A 25 cent increase in the gasoline tax is needed to repair and improve our long neglected highways.

A 25 cent increase in the cigarette tax might go part way towards financing health care for cigarette smokers but would not be enough to pay for health care for every American.

Health Care for all is an entirely different issue that will create its own political firestorm.

  6. Do you think that health care for every American should go to people who can already afford it?
