  1. They would have to get a job somehow!

Or maybe beg, borrow or steal.

It isn't much fun being unemployed and not entitled to benefits as I found out in my youth once, I lived on mussels from the beach that a kind neighbour boiled for me on some days.

In many other cultures you will find that the extended family look after and provide for each other, but not us!

  2. This forum would be empty to begin with cos what i have read and remembered there are a lot of folks on here on disability how do you disprove mental condition how quick do you hear the word autistic for badly behaved kids how many believe that they are on carers allowance cos there other half is genuine or are they part of the problem same faces same answerers day in day out

  3. I think if you have a genuine right to benfits you should be able to claim. But, because there a lot of lazy, worthless cretins in the conutry claiming money when they are fit to work, very often people with genunie reasons can't claim!

I hate dole scum - and by that I mean people who have no legitimate reason to claim benefits, and just pretend they have got something wrong with them like they pretend to be depressed etc.

  4. Pirate is right, unfortunately.  They would turn to illegal dealings.  It has always puzzled me, because they put out just as much effort planning, committing, and escaping from a crime as they would on a job that pays them regularly.  If they ever sat down and worked it out, they would find they make far less than minimum wage.  The other thing that would happen is an explosion of begging.  In some countries, this actually takes the form of people injuring themselves in some way to make their case more pitiable.  You cannot give someone a work ethic.  They either get raised with one or they do without.  It's the rest of us who pay the price, whether in welfare(the dole) or in law enforcement.

  5. in any other country.... dole scroungers would starve to death

  6. They'd work wouldn't they,or live like some do now and stay drug dealers.

I think  people who are disabled/and have genuine disabilities can't be criticised like those who are just generally bums.

If you go back before we had the benefit system, you'll find your answer there.

  7. they 'd break into your house rob it and flog the stuff down the pub to raise the cash.

    pimp out their wife/girlfriend/daughter

    sell drugs, mug old ladies,

more aggressive beggers on the street, more shop lifting.

  8. The benefits system was set up as a safety net for everyone who was old enough to work. The problem now is people abuse the system. Benefit breeders, scroungers etc.

Everyone who works pays into the benefit system, I have for 20 years, how do you think I feel when I see an 18 year old pushing a pram and living off me!! How do you think I feel when I see a man with 4 kids, council home but who has never worked, I pay for them.

We need to tighten up the benefit system and frankly if you have never paid into the benefit pot why should you get paid from it.

  9. the people who genuinely can't work (those with disabilities or problems preventing them from working) clearly wouldn't survive

  10. MANY of them do work cash in hand.....but remember its not that there is no work they feel the work avaliable is beneath them..what would happen well this:

There are jobs in this country but they refuse to do them...

we would have British pple working in care homes and the NHS rather than relying heavilly on foreign care staff and nurses....we would have British pple working in restaurants, hotels and other service industries were we have Eastern Europeans....and on the farms..and in renovation, painting etc that is what would happen...

And some may get off their back sides and get some qualifications and better themselves....which they are too lazy to do now.....bcoz they don't have to. This is not an poor third world state where there is no work....this country has one of the largest economies and there is work out there...go to the job centre and see how many jobs are advertised...go to the farms and see how the farmers rely on foreign staff, go to hotels and restaurants and see how the staff are foreign..go to the care homes and see who is cleaning, cooking and caring for the old.....

This is not a poor country and there are jobs but some people are too proud and spoilt...can't wait for labour to get kicked out....all these lazy pple will finally get what is coming to them.

  11. Lots of idle people through choice would have no alternative but to work but those genuinely ill or unable to find employment would bring us all back to 'the work house' system. That's the fortunate ones I would imagine there would be many deaths and homeless people.  Thing is those who have 'dodged' all their lives would steal, lie....do anything and the dinner would be on the table  plus a lot more luxuries but the genuine ones would not know how to go about such things.

  12. You may find out one day, if you are unlucky to be in that position!

As they say, never is a long time. Anybody at anytime can become ill or disabled, don't tempt fate by saying "never".

  13. yes i no deary

  14. They would turn to various activities such as shoplifting, handbag snatching, mugging, burglary, probably a bit of drug dealing, begging, cash-in-hand and casual work, to name but a few.
