  1. check out garage sales around this time theres tons of them. Oh and you wont even pay that much for a nice bike. And go ahead and dont be afraid to haggle most people just want to get rid of it. Offer half of whatever its marked and go from there

  3. You simply can't buy a decent new bike for $50.00.  Thus, I suggest you check out Craigslist in your area for a used bike.  Also, you may want to see if there is a business or other organization in your area specializing in used bikes.

  4. I bought a very nice specialized mountain bike for $10 at a community garage sale.  I had to spend about an hour fixing it up - but it's been great ever sense then.

    The key is, for <$50, you should know what you're looking at.  If you're not mechanically inclined - bring someone who is.  Some problems are easily fixed, others.... are not.
