Well Johnny, I think it's a safe bet to say you won't be getting a Christmas card from the good Mr. Thorsten Hohmann. That being said, if being a pro meant that my answers to a legitimate question like yours would be reduced to a response like, "get a life", then I'll refrain from the pro ranks and keep enjoying my amateur status.

Besides, I never had the killer instinct of a professional player because I don't subscribe to the philosophy of nice guys finish last. I preferred to adhere to, "do unto others as you would have others do to you". (paraphrased)

And I never thought of the game as a means to an end to make money. It's just never been about that when I play. Pool has always been a source of refuge for me from the normal day to day stresses of life. So why would I want to take something as enjoyable as pool and encumber it was something as frivolous and fleeting as money? I would rather do without and be happy than have a pocket full of cash and be miserable.

When I was 20 I played in every "pro"tournament I could get to. Played most of the name players and even cashed at a few. I had three sponsors that provided everything from expenses to cues.

I still made more money under the radar in gambling joints and decided that was the way to go.

Today the money is a little better at pro level but tournaments are chancey at best however it costs so much to be on the road now roadplayers don't have to many options. (remember .50 gas and 15. hotel rooms)

OH YES I WOULD!!! Maybe it would be because of the fantasy that we all have....well, this fantasy anyway...to get our 5 minutes of glory...I think that I have told you before that I am still at 61 still waiting for the Yankees to call me to play centerfield and will even let me wear #7 as well....but really your question could take a double type answer with it all centering around money....where would it be at with the most....but still I think just to see oneself on TV and to be able to be recognized would me the main reason....as you have mentioned before the money in pool is not on the tour....but still the "being famous" part is neat....last December  I had a month where I doubled the best month($$) ever I had in Sales (some skill but a lot of luck)....and I enjoyed the looks, stares and maybe a little of admiration from the others...it was almost double the best of anyone ever also.....so as long as I am around or it(record) is around...it will be my claim to fame...sort of!.....it would be nice to be a pro and be recognized as such....along with some of the money that goes along with in and in a line of work that would be really fun!!

Yes I would.  There is a huge difference between being a Pro, and beating drunks at the bar.  I am good but not that good.  If I made it my full time job maybe some day.

I would love to be that good but will probably never happen before the nerve disease hit I  was a semea pro calf roper liked it when I went to some rodeo,s and made a good run and heard the crowd cheer and clap just a passing fantasies

If the IPT had stuck around or any other pro tour with $200k or more top prizes was well established, yes. As the payouts stand now, no. I get plenty of enjoyment playing now, and if the money isn't right I do not feel like going pro would add enough excitement to my life to make it worthwhile.
