IHG named exclusive hotel partner of LPGA
InterContinental Hotels Group today announced that it has entered an exclusive agreement with Ladies Professional Golf Association. Through this contract, IHG is named the official hotel partner of LPGA.
This is an exciting collaboration between two organizations that are giants in their respective industries.
IHG is the largest hotel group with respect to hotel. Similarly, LPGA is the premiere women golf body in the world.
Under the terms of the agreement, IHG has designated its Crown Plaza brands of hotels to be the official hotel partner of all LPGA events.
Del Ross, Vice President for Americas Sales & Marketing said, “We are really looking forward to this new relationship with LPGA. This partnership provides a terrific opportunity for IHG to showcase our brands and bring to life our award winning loyalty program
for fans as well as the LPGA TOUR's membership base of players and staff from around the world”.
This is a unique opportunity that will benefit both the parties. LPGA will have an official hotel sponsor that will offer accommodations to players, their family members, caddies and LPGA officials.
IHG will be able to showcase its loyalty program and will receive access to the huge fan base that follows LPGA events.
This access is expected to increase the IHG loyalty program users beyond the present number. Already the loyalty program is the largest in the world, with 63 million users worldwide.
To implement the terms of the agreement, IHG is building a custom portal that will be exclusive to LPGA users.
The participants in any official LPGA event will be able to log in and book accommodations at any associated Crown Plaza and other brands of IHG.
This agreement comes on the heels of a similar contract between PGA and IHG. What is known of the agreement suggests that the terms of the agreement are similar to this recent IHG-LPGA agreement.
Edward Willett, LPGA Vice President of Business Development is very enthusiastic about the agreement.
She said, “IHG is a strong global brand, which aligns well with our global tour. This partnership fulfills a key business need, providing a variety of hotel options for our globetrotting players and constituents”.
