Izzi Top – a respectable career getting better with time
Whelped on 21st April, 2008, Izzi Top has experienced her fair share of success. Owned by Helena Springfield Ltd and currently under the training of John Gosden, the filly still has a long way to.
As a juvenile, the bay filly competed only in one start, where she landed a solid finish as a runner-up in the HRH Princess Royal E B F Maiden Fillies' Stakes at Doncaster in October, 2010. Victory was within her reach but she narrowly lost it to her
stable-mate, Devastation.
When the daughter of Pivotal returned for her sophomore campaign, she demonstrated her capability and racing skills.
On 11th April, 2011, she aced the 1 mile and one-half furlong track in the Affordable Racehorse Syndication With Jamasitr Racing Maiden Fillies' Stakes, but was disqualified.
Following that, she finished third at Newmarket in the 1 mile, 2 furlong Tweenhills Pretty Polly Stakes, losing the victory by 4 lengths on 1st May, 2011.
With her brisk pace and rider, Dane O’Neill, she excelled in the Swettenham Stud Fillies' Trial Stakes, where she trumped the competition and defeated William Haggas’s charge, Dancing Rain.
Foaled by Zafonic mare Zee Zee Top, her winning streak started when she aced the Group 3 Prix De Flore at Saint-Cloud in October, 2011.
Raced as a favourite, she defeated the Freddie Head trained, Albaraah, over 1 mile 2 ½ furlongs.
The filly’s campaign as a four-year-old is a success so far, and there are no signs of it stopping anytime soon.
The Meon Valley Stud bred runner came back with a bang at Newmarket in the Group 3 Qatar Bloodstock Dahlia Stakes on 6th May, 2012.
Her victory continued into the Group 2 Betfred Middleton Stakes at York on 17th May, 2012, where she prevailed on the 1 mile and 2 ½ furlong track and defeated the Saeed Bin Suroor trained, Sajjhaa.
The older division is in impeccable form which she proved herself, when she succeeded in the Group 1 Barclays Bank Ireland Pretty Polly Stakes at Curragh in July, 2012, over a mile and 2 furlongs.
