  1. I thought that you need parent's consent in the USA until you reach 21!

  2. I know in some US states they consider 18 yrs old ( sometimes 17 ) as Adults ). As for throwing your bf in jail just because he wants you to move in with him in NYC, it wont hold up. My suggestion to you is to look into the legal aspects you have in Puerto Rico ( even though its a US territory ) for your age and see if it will carry over to US States.

My guess would be that the reason they need a guardian signature is for financial paperwork. Otherwise question them on why they need a parents signature. Your of legal consent and could be held responsible for all payments to the school. But as for the BF, think twice about moving in with him. If it doesnt work out or something you would have no place to live.

  3. I highly doubt that you need a signature but i can be wrong. & for the 2nd ? yous are both adults you can do whatever you like.

  4. I'm studying in a University and my parents have no legal say in anything. The only things you need them for is an emergency contact and if you take out loans you need a co signer, but it doesn't need to be a parent.

Also, your mom cannot call the police on him bc you are 18 and he did nothing but ask you a question. In the end this is your choice and your mom should respect that. She isn't looking at the big picture of how an education will help you in life. She s focused on her daughter leaving so just remind her how much better life could be with a college education.

  5. As far as I'm aware you are a legal adult and can do as you desire.

  6. 18 means you are an adult as far as the US govt is concerned. Do what you wish. Mami & Papi can't do anything to make you do anything. You are considered an adult. Follow your heart miss and do what you want.

  7. When your 18, you are just as an adult as they.

She cannot do that, she's just trying to scare you. I say go for it! ;)
