Helo. I am 19 almost 20. My husband is active duty military and he is coming home I think sometime in April, anyway I wanted to stay in a nice hotel for a night or two because it will have been 5 months since we have been together, but the minimum check in age says 21. What can I do?

  1. Get a trusted friend that is older to arrange the room for you, if possible. Or just ask to speak to the manager, he or she may waive the requirement.

  2. If you're dead set on that particular hotel, ask them whether it their age limit is a hard and fast policy.  I suspect they are concerned about irresponsible young people, but you are married, and your husband is active duty.  If that isn't responsible, I don't know what is.

If your husband is over 21, then I'm pretty sure the reservation could be made in his name.  But even if not, talk with the hotel.  It breaks my heart that someone would be old enough to die for our country, but not old enough to rent a hotel room.

Then again, you could just go elsewhere.  Surely, not all hotels and motels have this rule.

  3. OR just go ahead and book it.  I've never seen anyone checked for an ID, unless they were with a group of young kids.  In most cases, the person checking you in is not any older than you are.

    Good luck
