  1. I have had 2 operations and its not that bad. Just read or watch a funny movie until u get sleepy. Just think about what is wrong right know will be fixed. Get urself after surgery stuff that you might need to make ur return home smooth. The doctors have done that operation hundreds of times and it is easy to them, and they will take care of you! Good luck and get better soon!

  2. OMG if you've had 6 surgeries then my goodness you do know the drill.  All I can say is, go through the motions that have gotten you through the 1st 6. If you live with your family, don't sit by yourself, go be with them. It will do you no good to dwell on what will happen tomorrow.  You've been there and back, and you will get through it a 7th and an 8th if you have to. Sounds like you're a very strong and determined young lady.

Don't let your fear get the best of you. You shouldn't take that energy into tomorrow with you, much less into the surgery room. Not sure if you are a spiritual person, but if you are, Pray. Sometimes if you give all of that nervousness and fear over, then you will be at ease. Meditation can help too, if you're not into Prayer.

I added a link to an easy meditation technique and I also added some links to some Prayers for Overcoming Fear and Worry, Peaceful Sleep,  Health and Healing.  This website is awesome and I have all of the books. There is a perfect Prayer for every situation and I have found so much peace in them.  I hope you do as well.  You can use the search engine and find others that may bring you encouragement.

Sometimes we just have to press on and do what we need to do "Afraid".  We can't fear what ultimately has to be done to save our lives or our health.  Yes there is a risk with all surgeries, but your energy should be with your strength and determination, because you are already accustomed to the risks.  Concentrate on staying focused and having a positive outlook and disposition for a sucessful surgery.  So in essence, embrace your fear, acknowledge it, don't let it take over you, just make peace with it and I think you will sleep comfortably tonight.

Good Luck with your Surgery tomorrow! ~J~

  3. after they make you fall asleep with the stuff, you fall asleep right away and when you wake up you act drunk so you won't really remeber. i broke my arm in 1st grade and i was freaking out when i was going to the emergency room. but now that its over, i realize its not that bad

  4. Don't worry about it! you'll be fine! I am sure that the docters have done this many times. just be brave and do your best! the docters know what they are doing don't worry.

  5. When I was 13, I had to have an operation. I remember, it was Valetine's Day, lol...I brought my teddy bear to the hospital, and they allowed me to bring him back. I'm sure they put him somewhere during the operation though, lol. At first, the I.V. is uncomfortable, but after a few seconds, you can't feel it. They'll either give you a numbing spray, or a numbing needle so you can't feel the I.V. The first I.V. I had to get, the nurse was so nice, and she worked with young kids all the time, so she made me smile. The second I.V I had was in my arm, and the girl was new, I think. She was young, and she didn't do it right, so that hurt. I'm not going to lie, but she did it wrong, that was her fault. I'm sure you'll be FINE, you'll make yourself sick, you really need to go in with a positive mindset. Just breath, that's my advice, just breath...you'll be fine.

  6. It's very natural to be nervous:  It just shows that you have a lot to live for.  One thing that helped me is to remember that your medical team is the product of hundreds of years of serious scientific study.  Your surgeon has spent more time learning about the human anatomy than some people have spent *alive.*  If he didn't feel confident in performing your proceedure, he (or she) wouldn't be doing it.  Ditto the notion that if your medical team didn't believe the surgery would benefit you, you wouldn't be having it.

I've survived three relapses of cancer.  It not only involved several rounds of chemotherapy and radiation treatments, but also two bone marrow transplants.  Various surgeries were also involved.  My team didn't give up on me!  The result is that I'm now past my second year of remission, and I'm fully expected to be cured.

I don't know the nature of your surgery... but I'd lay money on life being better for you if you have it done.  Remember those who love you.  Stay focused on recovery.  And you will be just fine!

  7. ive had an operation it is one of the most easy and painless things to overcome you will be fine and after it im sure you will reflect on how you worried about it too much

    stay story :)

  8. i got surgery last month and i was finneee. although im 17, they put me in the pediatric unit. i had like 3 personal nurses, my own room, tv, and all sorts of stuff. theyre all super nice and theyre only there to make you feel better. the iv only hurts if you look. just turn your head away and you wont feel it. once they give you anesthesia, you'll have no clue what is going on, you wont remember a thing, and you'll just wake up in recovery, all fixed =D
