I was at target earlier, I bout Sims 2 Seasons expansion pack. I brought the game home and put the disc in then it said that you have to install normal sims 2 before you can install Sims 2 Seasons. We called target and asked if we could exchange the game for the regular Sims even know we opened it we had the reset and the game wasn't damaged. When we got the game they didn't tell us we had to have the first one installed to play this game. It did say it on the back of the box in small print at the bottom but they won't even let us exchange it i think that is very wrong!

  1. i would be upset too but hey you should of read the package :p

  2. Target isn't responsible for knowing about every single product they carry.  That is up to the consumer to research and find out about first.  Also, most stores will only let you exchange for the same product once it's been opened.  This should be common knowledge.  It's pointless to be upset with Target because you did the wrong thing by mistake.

  3. It's fairly common knowledge that expansion packs require the first game to be played (that's why they're called 'expansions'--they expand on the original). And it did say it on the box. Sorry, but it's your fault.

  4. if you can't return it, it really isn't Target's fault

At first I thought that as long as you had the reciept you can return it, but I don't think you can exchange it

But you may not be able to return it like another person said because people copy disks and return them after buying

if you're really that mad about it you can open one of those amazon.com affilate accounts and sell it online or give it to someone as a gift.

I'd just be glad that it wasn't something that was like 200 or 300 dollars

  5. I did that, so then I went and bought the regular, but come on, you couldnt exchange a 20 dollar game for a 50 dollar game, so just do what I did, and go buy the sims game and stop bitching, because they wont let you return it.

  6. They're right. For all they know you could've copied the disk.

It's not fair that you should be punished for other idiots out there who DO burn games, cds, etc...but b/c of those idiots Target has policies of prevention.

Count your losses and pick your battles, Kiddo.

  7. In this case you are at fault, always read the box carefully before you purchase DVD or games.

If people were allowed to exchange movies and games because they didn't know they had to do something before hand what's to stop someone from buying one copying it and getting their money back.

Personally I think that they should make DVD players with a little mechanism that when someone burned the disc it would leave a mark on the disc to let the store know it was burned.

That would stop the whole not being able to return them.

  8. It says on the box, and you cannot return it because there are people who copy the disks, even though you may not be one, they can't take any chances.

  9. You're angry with them because you made a mistake.  Sounds like your anger is misplaced.

  10. Yeah the above guys are right.  Also, it is a STRICT policy with any major retailer not to accept returns for movies, CDs, or games, if they've been opened, due to the possibility that someone could copy it, then return it.  Only if the disc is defective can you return it, and then it is only for an exchange of the exact thing you bought.

You'll just have to go buy the Sims 2 CD.
