IM due in 30 days, arent I supposed to be seen every week now?

My due date is Sept 28th, and my doctor has me scheduled for two weeks from now, then every week then on- but that's only 3 visits before my due date...should I call and complain? Is this even a big deal or am I just making a fuss for no reason? Everyone keeps telling me it looks like I might have him early because of how low I am and how hard the belly is. Any advice?

Also, I forgot to bring this up yesterday with the doc, but I get these wierd pains above my cervix where it almost feels like he's scratching me. Only for a couple of seconds though, but frequently. Is that the baby going into position, or something maybe more serious? Have you experienced anything like that? Thanks!

  1. I wouold call your doc about the scratching. I dont know what to say about that but things that I thought were not important and to wait my doctor has yelled at me. I walked for 3 days with a busted up foot before telling them at my appoinment and was told I should have called. turns out I formed arthites. (YAY) but no your visits are right each doctor starts the 2 week session differently depending on the week you see them and what their thoughts are but it is always within a week or two. I was at the end of week 26 this friday and they have started me on two week appionments. They said around week 35 I will start weekly. I think they think the same thing as me and everyone else the kid is coming out thanksgiving week, LOL. Its all up to the baby when he wants out but yes your appointments are set right and as for the scratching ask the doc cause no the baby can not scratch cause their nails do not harden till they hit the air. LOL its just like when you swim or sit in a bath to long your nails get soft GL

  2. Talk to your doctor - about all of this.  Ask him about the sensations you are having and let him know that you have some anxiety about waiting for two weeks to see him again.  Your doctor won't do anything that he believes will jeopardize your health or your pregnancy.  If you are not satisfied with how he is handling your pregnancy, then you will want to use a different doctor next time.  Good luck!  You're in the home stretch!

  3. usually yes but some DR's don't think you need weekly visits this early.

i am 36 weeks and i have only seen my DR 2 weeks in a row one time, i dont see her again for another 2 weeks.

i was also told by my Dr that shes surprised i haven't had my baby yet.

  4. relax and that is more than enough visits if your in good health. the pains are possibly braxton hicks contraction but don't sound unusual

  5. No usually your doctor won't schedule one week appointments until the very very end or you go past your due date. All depends on the doctor really. With my first I was every 2 weeks until I reached 36 weeks then she moved me to every week. I went at 38 weeks though. With my second one I went every 2 weeks till I was induced 2 days before my due date.

Really there is no need for the 1 week appointments unless you have complications or are over due. I wouldn't complain or throw a fuss about it. Its just how your doctor does things.

As far as your other question its most likely just the way the baby is laying on your cervix. Since you have dropped he is pushing right against it now. If it gets to bad then I would suggest calling your doctor about it.

    Good Luck

  6. my doctor saw me every week for the last month...

  7. Some doctors do things differently I was only seen every week two weeks before my due date.  I did hear that there supposed to be weekly when you are a month away from your due date though.  I figured that different doctors do things differently.

  8. No u dont start that till 36 weeks u should now begin every 2 wks

  9. Typically you would be seen every week starting with week 36, but your doctor/insurance may have a different schedule.  Unless you are high risk, 3 more visits should be fine.

The weird pains you mention may be dilation occurring.  YAY for you!  Our body's start preparing long before we know it.

Have a happy, safe, healthy birth and remember that your body was designed to give birth!
