Hi,

The original idea behind imdb was Col Needham who set out to ease the chaos by posting Unix shell scripts on Usenet (on Oct 17th 1990) designed to easily search freely available lists/faqs previously posted (citing actors, actresses, directors, and biographical entries for movie makers who had passed on).

As of late 1998, Jeff Bezos of Amazon took the reins...
