I"m applying to university of alabama (rolling admissions). I have the required GPA but im 30 points from the "average accepted" sat score (I have 960 they generally accept 990). meaning its not required but its what they generally accept. I know with rolling admissions its best to apply asap but idk what to do. I'm taking the SATs again on october 4th. But that would mean I wouldn't be able to apply till November. Should I apply now and take my chances? Or apply later in November.

  1. apply now, let them know you are retaking the SAT, then get busy.....

  2. well usually average means "average" so it does not mean u will not get accepted just cuz ur sat score is below 30s..they look at the overall picture too like how much you participate in your school activity, for example, clubs, organizations, sports team..etc.

also if you do work around your community-volunteering in the hospital or church, nursing home etc.

also some schools require an essay so they may take tht into account as well/interviews.

if you feel confident you will score better by all means take the exam again but if you feel tht u got lucky in terms of wht u scored now then apply now since its rolling admissions the earlier you get in the better it is...

suppose they have 100 seats left right now you will have more chances of getting in if they feel you will be a decent candidate...but later in november suppose there r 10 seats left and these kids have a slightly better score than u..then most likely they will get the admission...

so you have to look at your overall record, your gpa sounds good, sats arent tht bad, look at your school extracurriculars-if you have nothing then should just go for the sats!!

    good luck!

  3. apply later and study hard for the SAT's.

you should still be able to get in for early admissions. its better to apply later, than to get rejected because of your score

  4. wait till november and get the points

  5. Wouldn't "average accepted" mean that they have students who have both higher and lower SAT scores?  I would just apply now, you can always re-apply if the don't accept you. (I bet that you get in).
