  1. Try type this (ntid) or type (sign language class) in google.

You should be able to find that quickly.

    Good luck!

  2. While at Purdue University, I took an ASL class as part of my major in Special Education. They do have a ASL program in the Audiology & Speech Sciences Dept. ASL is considered a foreign language so if your H.S. offers it as a class, take it. Knowing the basics will help at the college level. I'll post the link for you to check out. If the link doesn't work, just c&p it to your browser.

  3. I have taken two classes of ASL. I will tell what I have learned from my expiriences.

When I went to sign up for the class, someone who studied languages asked me if I had a child or sibling who spoke ASL. I said no. He told me I would never be an interpreter. He said that unless you are surrounded by ASL, you will never become fluent enough to interpret.

I have found this to be true. I stopped after two classes, but I am sure if I finished all the courses, I would be able to speak as much as I wanted to. But I would never be able to interpret. You need to be thinking in sign language. There is no way for you to really emerse yourself in ASL unless you have a child or sibling who speaks it.

Sorry if this is not the answer you were looking for, but I just wanted you to know. btw, I just took the classes at a community college. You could probably do the same thing, if you still want to.

  4. the only deaf college in the USA that i can think of is Gallaudett (SP)
