Question:

IMovie automatically stops video from camcorder?

Please help! I imported a short video earlier from my camcorder to my Mac desktop and must have changed some setting. Now the camcorder will play when unplugged from the Firewire port, but when it is plugged in, iMovie immediately stops the tape. The stop button on-screen appears to be permanently depressed. Attempts to import or play video result in the record button lighting for 1/2 a second and then the video stopping.

I cannot watch or import video on screen as iMovie constantly stops the playback. I have searched for anything related to a stop button-lock, with out success. I am way behind on this project and have a short time to finish it--please, please help me!

Thanks in advance!

  1. - Go to Home > Library > Preferences folder and move the com.apple.imovie.plist file to the Desktop, then logout and into your account to try iMovie.

    - If that doesn't work, try a Safe boot, then reboot regularly.

    - Boot from the Install DVD to use Disk Utilities Repair Disk feature. Reboot and Repair Permissions with Disk Utility.

Some more basic troubleshooting you can try if the above don't work for you.
