IN Barrel racing would it make sense to run more than 1 horse at an event?

We are new to the sport, I notice some people bring in 6 horses, I assume it is to perhaps increase the chances of getting more points or collecting winnings due to the division split?

  1. Hi,

Well it depends on the event, amount of entry fees, and if you own 6 barrel horses.  Also keep in mind if you just see 6 horses in a trailer they cold just be hauling some friends horses with theirs due to the gas prices.

To answer your question, it is only worth it if you place.  Otherwise you are wasting time and money, entering and buying more horses.

"I assume it is to perhaps increase the chances of getting more points or collecting winnings due to the division split?"

That is exactly why girls/guys run more than one horse in some barrel clubs.  I basically think that it is unfair, but they can afford it so why not?

But it is basically a personal question of whether or not you run more than 1 horse.  Personally I only ran one horse, but I only had one barrel horse.  My sister ran 2 for a while, because she was breaking in a new one.

I hope I helped you some and best of luck barrel racing!
