  1. That is a topic that is being discussed.  It made it through the first committee at the end of January.  It has to go through several more steps to get approved for next season.  They figured out that everyone else in the world is playing 25 points.  They are the only organization that is using 30.  They had guessed that since they went to 30, the high schools would also switch to 30 when they switched to rally scoring.  And they were wrong.

It would be a great thing.  One less rules difference to remember.  And it would only make the match time between 15 and 25 minutes less.

And the reason the NCAA keeps the different rules is roughly $10 per book in sales.  The same for the NFSHSA and USAV.  Why allow everyone to download the FIVB rules for free when they can make up their own rules and sell their own books.

  2. It would be great.

Why would NCAA players have to play for more points than Olympic teams? Why can't we save some funds simply by adapting to Olympic rules?

I wish rules for high-level volleyball competition in the States could match what they have in FIVB rules, but I wouldn't be surprised if it should cause a different type of "writer-strike".
