  1. "Stalk and a boy" reminds me of Jack and the Beanstalk.

    Starting off with a cow, the boy makes very stupid trades and ends up only with beans.  Thrown out, a seed produces an enormous bean stalk, which boy climbs up to giant's house.

    He steals from the giant and cuts down stalk, and so kills pursuing giant.  (Dumb, dishonest, murderer ! I never really noticed this before!)

    A lot of Western fables have counterparts or origins in India, Persia.... so it might be Jack that you're trying to learn about.
