INTERESTING Current Event!!! US HISTORY Class.?

Question

I need to do a current event this week. We also need to present them and so I didn't want to read my class a boring war/oil-related saga, I want a funny and interesting one. ( I love news stories about animals ). The only hard thing is that it needs to relate it to our class, at least some what.

The class is AP US History

Wikipedia is awesome for this kind of thing. Think of a product you like (Coca-Cola, Nike shoes, old 45 records) and look up the inventer or a famous developer of that product from history. Just follow the links until you find a good gossipy story. Some of the Bohemian artists from the 19th century led some incredibly messed up lives.

Check out the latest from the AP.  There's a dam that is about to (or already has) burst in the Grand Canyon.  Lots of evacuations.  What will this do to the wild life there?

how about funny moments from the olympics there are a few scenes where in baseball the chinese team were deliberately throwing the ball at the u.s team [hitting them], thus when a [u.s] guy ran to 1st base he "accidentally" knocked the baseman over...

Why not do a presentation about the discovery of the dead Bigfoot. It was in the news the other day and is a current event. With your love of animals it would prove to be both interesting and informative. Good Luck,
