  1. i want to be a interior designer too, i would answer your Q but i cant because im not a interior designer yet lol

  2. Although I'm not an interior designer, I work for a wonderful interiors store. My job involves things such as writing a design advice column for a weekly magazine, liaising with top interiors mags and lending them products for photo shoots, styling the shops and the windows, and running our website and PR department.

I love my job and would say the world of interiors is definately a fun one to be in!

However it's also a difficult one to get into.

There are different aspects of interior design as well - there is a practical side where you will need to know about structure, function, specialized performance etc, and the aesthetic side which is more style based.

    These would be my tips...

*Buy all the interiors mags every month and stay abrest of trends and industry developments. From best sellers like Ideal Home and Home and Gardens to fashion and trend based mags like Wallpaper and Vogue Interiors.

    *Study hard!

There are great courses out there both at university level and above. There are also weekend and evening classes.

I recommend looking here for a start:

*Work with a team before going it alone. Why not try and get in with an Interiors magazine. The best way to get in would be to do work experience with the stylists (they are the ones that create all the beautiful rooms you see in the mags) and from there you can work your way up. This will give you loads of experience and a good feel for the industry.

Or try and get an apprentice type job with an interior designer.

Dream scenario is to go it alone to earn the most money (although when you love your job money is less of an issue!).

Once you have a strong portfolio of work you will be able gain clients respect and trust.

Salary will vary throughout your career, where you work, who you work for and what you work on. I think you'd look at a basic start of 15-18k with the potential of working up to six figures if you get in with the right people!

    Good luck!!

  3. Wow! What a great job!
