I am currently in Taiwan, and I have been using Skype and calling people's cell phones.

I am very scared because I just learned that it is possible that the people that recieve skype calls in America from their cell phones may be charged a lot because they are receving an international call. Is this true or exactly how does this work? The phone's I have been calling have been Verizon Wireless by the way,.

Please if someone could give me a detailed explanation id greatly appreciate it!

Other details: I use skype and call verizon cell phones, and right now I live in taiwan. Does skype use local numbers or international numbers when you contact people in America?

Thanks guys

  1. No, skype does not charge the receiver of the call, it only charges the caller. I use skype also and I do so to call cell phones in Australia. The skype site shows how much it costs to call phones in various countries.

  2. It's international numbers...or depending on where you signed up. It's best to contact Skype to Skype.

  3. get rid of skype. get this magic jack. i have it & it works great for cheap.
