  1. try to set your own IP address, go into my network connections and create an IP that you know is valid

  2. It sounds like you have a bad network card

you may need to reinstall the network driver

So you dont have a wireless NIC?

    I dont understand?

You dont have a wireless card? You cant get an IP if you dont have a wireless card.

  4. well.. without an IP your dead in the water, make sure your connecting to your router.. doesnt seem like youve tryed that.

  5. I guess I don't understand...if you don't have a wireless card, and you aren't plugged in with a wire, how do you expect to connect?  What are you trying to do?

An IP address is obtained from a DHCP sever (usually your router) once you connect to it.  You can't have a IP address if you aren't connected to anything.
