I want to play Xbox Live while having my computer on and connected to the internet at the same time. In order for me to play Xbox Live, I have to shut down my computer and reset my modem. Then turn my Xbox on. If I want to use my computer I have to turn off my Xbox and reset the modem, then turn my computer on. I had them on at the same time and a little icon comes up on my PC saying ipConflict, limited or no connectivity. Where do I go to fix this problem? What do I do? Please help =]

  1. The best solution that I have done is to give the PC a static IP address different than the one that is getting from the router. So, first check the IP that the computer gets from the router and choose another one (ex. 192.168.1.5 >> 192.168.1.9)

Do not forget to add the "Default gateway" and "DNS" settings.

  2. You'll need to purchase a router. The router "splits" your single IP obtained from your service provider into multiple IP addresses. Before purchasing a router, make sure it can work with Xbox Live - usually there's some kind of advertisement on the box. I know that Linksys routers work fine with Xbox.
