IPL 2011: Franchises To Retain Twelve Players
While initiating with the first comprehensive step in regards to the IPL 2011, it was announced that the founding franchises of the event were going to retain only twelve players.
According to the guiding IPL Player Regulations, each one of the founding franchises was allowed to keep up to four players (with maximum three Indian players) prior to the final auction of the players, and for which they could use a total of $9m Salary
Cap. As per the rules, today was the deadline for the franchises to provide the names of players they wanted to retain for the coming event.

Among rest of the players, the aggressive opener http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Virat-Kohli-c95424 was decided to be held by Royal Challengers Bangalore. The two most sought for Australian players Shane Warne and Shane

Analyzing the decisions of the franchises, for holding back the players, in financial terms, both Mumbai Indians and the Chennai Super Kings will be left with half of their total budget money ($4,5m out of $9m) under the salary heads. The left money will
be further used in buying rest of the team players. While being slightly in a better position, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Rajasthan-c837 Royals will be left with a total of $5.9 million to complete its team for the event.
Among others, Royal Challengers Bangalore and http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Delhi-c780 Daredevils both will have $7.2 to go with, while all the rest of the franchises will have full amount of $9m available to them.
While giving his remarks over the important developments of the day, IPL Chairman, Chirayu Amin said: “The first stage of the process for confirming the playing squads for 2011 has gone off well. It is heartening to see that a majority of the founding franchises
have chosen to retain players.”
