IPL 2011 - RCB batsman http://www.senore.com/Cricket/CA-Pujara-c1209 grateful for platform and advice
Despite failing to demonstrate an impressive show with the bat in the recent fourth edition of the lucrative Indian Premier League (IPL), the Royal Challengers Bangalore’s (RCB) batsman, Cheteshwar Pujara, has termed the Twenty20 league as a huge platform
for him and other youngsters to polish their cricketing skills.
Pujara noted that the participation of the best international players not only gives an opportunity to young cricketers to improve their game but also to learn from the experience of seniors.
"IPL is the perfect platform for young cricketers to play alongside senior players of different countries. It (IPL) gives youngsters a chance to learn a lot from experienced players", said Pujara.
The Gujarat-born cricketer is not the first one to cite IPL as a great tournament for the http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Groom-c60840 their talent.
Recently, a number Indian young players such as, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Harishachar-Vinay-Kumar-c61519, earned their place in the national side following their fantastic performance in the Twenty20 league.
However, the cricket pundits have a divergence of opinion over the role of IPL in the Indian domestic cricket. A few days ago, the renowned Indian cricket commentator, Harsha Bhogle, expressed his concerns over the declining standards of Indian first-class
cricket.
Harsha explained that the IPL exposed the terrible condition of local cricket in India, saying that it is not the passion of cricket which attracted local players towards cash-rich IPL but the desire to get handsome contracts from different franchises.
Although, Pujara’s outfit, RCB, reached the final of the fourth edition of the league, the 23-year-old batman failed to make an impression in the competition. He took part in seven games and scored just 34 runs at an average of 11.33.
Commenting on his injury which kept him out of most of IPL games and http://www.senore.com/Cricket/West-Indies-c760, Pujara shared “It’s painful to sit out. It is difficult to avoid on-field injury and an injured player does not have any option except for taking rest”.
