IPL 2012 - Chennai Super Kings and Mumbai Indians – Team Guide – Part One
The fifth edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL) is all set to get underway from the 4th of April, 2012 with a mouthwatering encounter between two of the best team teams of the cash-rich league, Chennai Super Kings and Mumbai Indians.
Before the tournament kicks-off, let us go through all the teams of the event and analyze the prospects of each team in the fifth season of the league.
Chennai Super Kings
The defending champions are surely going to be the team to beat in this event as the Super Kings have won the previous two editions of IPL in a comprehensive manner. While talking to the media, Chennai’s premier off-spinner, Ashwin admitted that his team is under immense pressure to clinch the title for the third time in a row. Some of the players are not hundred percent fit at the moment but Ashwin hopes that all the players will be available for the entire tournament.
“This is going to be a most interesting season for CSK because we have lot of pressure on us to defend the title. More so we have some injury concerns. More so there will be back-to back matches and in early April which we have to be wary of," said Ashwin.
Mumbai Indians
Mumbai did well in the previous season and gave a very tough time to their opponents but cricket analysts feel that this team has not lived up to its potential so far.
The big news recently for the Indians has been the resignation of little-master, Sachin Tendulkar from captaincy. He has handed over the leadership of the Indians to http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Harbhajan-Singh-c61453 because the master-blaster wants to concentrate on his game only at this stage of his career.
Tendulkar said in a statement, "The Mumbai Indians is more than a team. It is like a family to me. At this point of time, I feel I need a break from the responsibility of captaincy of the http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Mumbai-c820 Indians. After due consideration, I discussed my intention to hand over the Captainship of the team to Harbhajan Singh.”
Mumbai is a formidable team because of a brilliant combination. If the likes of http://www.senore.com/Cricket/SL-Malinga-c2540 is going to be Mumbai’s real force with the ball. It remains to be seen if Mumbai can lift the IPL for the first time in five years or will have to wait some more.
