IPL 4 to be played from April 8, 2011
The Indian Premier League governing council has finally lifted the curtain over the dates for the next edition of the tournament. According to an announcement made by the IPL’s governing council, the player
auction for the tournament will take place on 8 and 9 January while the tournament will start on 8 April 2011.

The IPL governing council also announced that the tournament will run for 45 days and the final will be played on 22 May. There will be eight teams that will participate in the tournament and 60 games will
be played in it.

However, the format of the tournament has been tweaked slightly. The eight teams will be initially involved in a round-robin with each other on a home and away basis, which is like how it was in the previous
edition. However, after this, there will be no semi-finals. Instead, the top two teams from the league will play in a play-off to decide which team enters the final. The team losing this play-off will then meet the winner of another game played between the
third and the fourth placed team in the league. The winner in this game will then take on the winner of the first play-off in the final.

The rules of the players auction will be the same as that of the first edition of the tournament but there will be no icon players. In the first edition, the five icon players were not a part of the auctions
and had to be paid 10 per cent more than what the team’s highest paying player got.

If Kochi can overcome their internal differences by 27 November, then they will be the eighth team of the tournament. if they are not able to do so, there will be a team auction to decide which will be the
eighth team to join http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Hyderabad-c792.
