IPL 5 – Chennai Super Kings vs Deccan Chargers - Match Preview
Defending champions, Chennai Super Kings will face Deccan Chargers today in the 46th fixture of the Indian Premier League (IPL), season five, at the MA Chidambaram Stadium, Chepauk.
http://www.senore.com/Cricket/MS-Dhoni-c2028 and company are currently placed at the fifth spot in the points table with nine points after 10 matches. The Super Kings have not been up to their usual high standards in the current season and are still struggling to get some momentum.
Deccan, on the other hand, is at the bottom of the points table with just five points after nine encounters. From now onwards, every single match of the current season is a must-win for the Chargers, if they still hope for qualifying for the play-off stage
of the tournament.
The twice champions of the cash-rich league have been boosted by the arrival of Australian cricketers, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/BW-Hilfenhaus-c1204.
http://www.senore.com/Cricket/SK-Raina-c2539 and Dhoni have been the pillars of Chennai’s batting since the inception of the league and both have been absolutely brilliant over the years. However, both of them have been out of form in the current season. At times, Raina has looked in great
touch but he has failed to convert his starts into big knocks. They need to get going if Chennai has any hopes of defending the title for the second time in a row.
Chennai’s bowling coach and former Australian fast bowler, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Andrew-John-Bichel-c44426 understands that his team has not been able to deliver the goods in the current season so far but he is still optimistic about Chennai’s chances in the on-going season. Bichel expressed
that it is extremely difficult to win three tournaments in a row, considering the nature of the tournament.
"There is lot of expectations from the fan base always. Winning three in a row is a high standard in IPL for us. It is a challenge for us. Ours is a good enough team to win this tournament," said Bichel.
Deccan’s skipper, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/KC-Sangakkara-c1779 has urged the foreign players of his team to raise their game. The left-handed batsman along with former Australian T20 captain, Cameron White has found form in the recent matches. However, some of the other international
stars like http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Daniel-Christian-c1308 have been off-colour this season.
Sangakkara wants the senior players of the team to lead the youngsters from the front.
"Overseas players have to share the responsibilities and the younger Indian players should be allowed to play freely and enjoy their game and find their places in the side and get that self belief in them," he expressed.
In the current season, the Chargers are missing their premier fast bowler, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/I-Sharma-c1566. The lanky cricketer was awesome in the previous season but he was ruled out of IPL this year because of fitness issues.
Deccan’s skipper mentioned, "Obviously we are missing Ishant Sharma, who will be a fantastic partner for Styen or Rusty or whoever we field in the match."
On papers, Chennai is a much stronger unit as compared to the visitors but T20 cricket can turn out to be a very funny game at times. If http://www.senore.com/Cricket/DW-Steyn-c1409 can pick up some early wickets against the home team, Sangakkara and his men can surely upset Chennai. Let
us keep our fingers crossed and see which team grabs two important points after today’s fixture.
