IPL 5: Harbhajan Singh happy to take pressure off Sachin Tendulkar – Cricket News Update
The newly appointed skipper of the Mumbai Indians, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/SR-Tendulkar-c2556, who recently stepped down as captain of the Indian Premier League franchise. The off-spinner does not want any undue
pressure on the batsman, as he wishes that Tendulkar plays freely and scores loads of runs for the team.
Giving an interview to the media, Harbhajan said, “He (Tendulkar) has done so much for us and this is the small thing I can do take the responsibility and take the team forward. Let him be free and play freely. Score as many as runs he wants. I am sure he
will score lot of runs for MI.”
This will not be the first time that Harbhajan will be leading the Mumbai Indians. The off-spinner has done so in the past, during the 2011 Champions League Twenty20 tournament, when Tendulkar was sidelined due to an injury. The off-spinner did well in his
first tenure, as he inspired the MI to the CLT20 trophy.
Tendulkar’s presence around the dressing room is enough to boost the morale of the young cricketers even when he is not playing, the off-spinner stated. Harbhajan concluded that the Little Masters advice holds the utmost value for him.
“Sachin means the biggest factor for us. Last year in the CLT20, he was not playing but his suggestions and inputs were as important as any other 11 walking on the field,” said Harbhajan. “He is going to make a big difference when he is there. He is the
reason for many of us start playing cricket. Always great to have him in the team.”
MI has always been amongst the favourite teams to win the IPL, but till date the trophy eludes them. The http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Mumbai-c820 based team reached the finals of the tournament in 2010, only to be denied by the Chennai Super Kings, the same opponents that the MI will face
on Wednesday, April 4.
However, Harbhajan was confident that things will be different this season. The off-spinner remains positive, and held that his team has what it takes to uproot any opposition in the IPL.
