IPL 5: Mumbai Indians the silent assassins on the way to glory
The Mumbai Indians this year are seemingly a silent team, a bit unpredictable, but heading in the right directions after giving their fans goosebumps in the current season of the Indian Premier League (IPL).
The side had a staggering start to the tournament this year after they beat the defending champion Chennai Supers Kings, however, after the early success, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Mumbai-c820 hit rock bottom for a while as there was a moment in the tournament when nothing was going the
right way for them.
This year, a big change in the team was the naming of new skipper http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Chinnadupargea-Sachin-c50607 to be replaced at least not after
the batsman had hit is 100th century in international cricket, a feat that earned him praise from all corners of the cricketing world.
Nonetheless, another problem that ‘struck’ the side was the blow to Sachin’s finger right in the first fixture which saw his exclusion from the next four games, where his absence was dearly missed.
Meanwhile, Singh, who has was dropped from the national team right after the world cup due to poor form and fitness as not seen is place back in national colours and is now desperate to perform well in the lucrative tournament to see himself walking back
in the national dressing room.
However, unfortunately for him, he has failed to get anyone’s attention as batsmen had not been feeling the heat while facing the once unplayable spinner.
In times like these, Mumbai desperately need their players to come through, however, another blow to their plans was the news about the unavailability of http://www.senore.com/Cricket/MG-Johnson-c1945, the left-hand Australian pacer who was expected to join Mumbai Indians in the latter
half of the tournament, to boost the side’s pace attack while bowling along http://www.senore.com/Cricket/SL-Malinga-c2540.
However, after failing to recover from a toe surgery, the pacer has been ruled out of the tournament adding to Mumbai’s miseries.
Nonetheless, with the likes of Malinga, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/KA-Pollard-c1754 the side still can hold its own, but still they are will continue to struggle in the bowling department where they lack a fancy number of backup bowlers who are handy when
they main strikers fail to prosper.
If Mumbai manage finally manage to lift the cup this year, apart from luck it will be a tremendous effort from their batting side which is without a shadow of any doubt among the best in the tournament.
Still the skipper feels that his batsmen need to pull their socks and bat the team out of almost any difficulty, but with a poor bowling side it will not matter how much the batsmen post on the board, because as the competition heads towards the end, the
matches are going to get tougher and any weakness in any team would be exploited without remorse.
Mumbai now need to focus on their bowling and fielding which will save them from sitting out the tournament and watching the final on television as perhaps this is the year when its time for Mumbai to finally take the IPL home.
