IPL – Chennai Super Kings versus Kolkata http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Knight-c71599 Riders - Part 2
Rajat Bhatia continued the bowling attack for the Kolkata Knight Riders and restricted them to only singles before Lakshmipathy Balaji was hit for nine runs in the next over, including a boundary from the Chennai Super King batsman, Suresh Raina.
Yusuf Pathan was brought back into the attack in the 11th over and his head in his hands when Srikkanth Anirudha was dropped by Eoin Morgan on the second delivery on the over.
So it was a relief for the Knight Riders when Sarabjit Ladda managed to hold onto a fast moving ball when Raina’s shot went in his direction. Raina had done his bit though with a score of 33 runs from 29 deliveries.
Indian Captain, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Mahendra-Singh-Dhoni-c73820 was the next man in and was greeted with a huge cheer. The batsman was off the mark with a single with the first delivery he faced.
The 13th and 14th overs belonged to the Knight Riders as they managed to restrict the Super Kings to five and three runs respectively. Iqbal Abdullah and Ladda looked to take advantage of the new man in but Dhoni broke the deadlock when Abdullah made the
mistake of offering the Indian captain a juicy full toss, roundly dispatched to the boundary.
However that was not before Super King Anirudha had his half century, the first of the tournament as he looked to build on his innings.
The 16th over brought 14 runs as Ladda twice saw the ball fly over the ropes. The first when Dhoni hit him on the first delivery of the over and the second when Anirudha punished the bowler for a short and wide ball.
The Super Kings were in a strong position at 121 for the loss of two wickets as Balaji was brought in to bowl the 17th over of the innings. He did well to restrict the batsmen to just singles
The introduction of Jacques Kallis resulted in the Kolkata Knight Rider’s third breakthrough when wicket keeper Mavinder Bisla caught the ball after Dhoni got the lightest of touches on the ball. It was a good over by Kallis taking a wicket and giving away
only five runs. Albie Morkel made his way to the crease.
Balaji continued his fine bowling display giving away only five runs in the penultimate over. Jacques Kallis delivered a peach of a ball that had the star of the show Anirudha out bowled for 64 runs.
New batsmen Scott Styris hit a four on his first ball and Morkel did the same on the second last delivery. Morkel ended the Chennai Super Kings innings in kingly fashion, with a six.
The huge hit put the Super Kings in a commanding position at 153 runs for the loss of four wickets in the allotted 40 overs.
