Ipl players contract is three years.So how about the payment for the players in 2009 and 2010?Heard of dhoni and hayden saying top players will get 15 million usd next year

Players can be traded starting from next year. Chennai owner is not obligated to pay more than $1.5m to Dhoni in the current situation. However, if other teams show interest in Dhoni, then they will have to trade (buy) Dhoni from Chennai team. Of course, Chennai owner will make a profit by selling Dhoni at a higher price to the other team.

On the other hand, if the Chennai owner wants to keep Dhoni from being traded, they can internally re-negotiate a contract with him, and increase his salary.

Ultimately, it all depends on the player performance. If the player doesn't perform well, the market value of the player doesn't improve. I reckon Shaun Marsh and Shane Watson's contracts going upwards drastically next year considering their consistent performance.

The contracts for the Icon players are for 3 years and if they are fired by the owner in between they get the contracted amount and if the resign they loose the amount and for the rest they are auctioned before every edition of IL.
