Pune warriors inflicted a seven wicket defeat on the Kings XI Punjab with almost seven overs to spare. Kings XI Punjab won the toss and chose to bat first.
The first wicket for Kings XI Punjab fell when http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Alfonso-Thomas-c991 after scoring only a solitary run. In the very next over Kings XI Punjab were dealt another blow when they lost their second opener, Shaun Marsh.

In reply, Pune Warriors was off to a disastrous start as they lost their first wicket on the very first delivery of their innings. Graeme Smith was the batsman and Praveen Kumar the bowler.
The 60-run partnership between Jesse Ryder and Mithun Manhas however set the tone of the innings. Manhas made a total of 35 runs which included 5 fours and a six before he was out caught by Gilchrist on the bowling of Nayar. Ryder made 31 runs before Ryan
McLaren got him. Ryder hit six fours.
