IPL can never replace international cricket, claims http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Chinnadupargea-Sachin-c50607 Tendulkar – Cricket News Update
Former Indian skipper, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/SR-Tendulkar-c2556, has expressed that international cricket will never lose its importance but franchise cricket is a great platform for youngsters as well as seasoned domestic players.
Since the inception of Indian Premier League (IPL) in 2008, there is a huge debate in the cricketing world about the changing trends in the game.
One school of thought believes that IPL is a curse for international sport as many high-profile cricketers have started to prefer their clubs over representing their respective countries.
It is a fact that many great players have been encouraged to retire from international sport as they earn sufficient money from the cash-rich league now. Many star-players like http://www.senore.com/Cricket/KP-Pietersen-c1806 have had disputes with their respective boards
because of the league. The former has not played any international cricket since last one year and the latter has announced his retirement from limited-over sport.
Tendulkar thinks that international cricket should always remain the priority for every cricketer but tournaments like IPL provide a great opportunity for the local players to catch the eyes of the selectors.
"Club cricket can never take country cricket's place but it's a brilliant platform. Cricket is the only sport which has three formats - T20 cricket gives you the opportunity to new players to showcase their talent," he expressed.
The batting-maestro further added that domestic cricketers work extremely hard throughout their careers but they do not get any recognition. Therefore, IPL helps them gain financial security and also gives them acknowledgment among the cricket fans all around
the globe.
"More importantly, it gives a chance to first-class players who may have worked hard for years but never made it to the national team. It helps them earn money which is important because they sacrificed many of their years to fulfill their dreams to play
for http://www.senore.com/Cricket/India-c750," Tendulkar added.
The 39-year-old plays for http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Mumbai-c820 Indians in IPL and led the franchise in the initial four seasons. However, he resigned from the post before the start of the fifth season as the legendary batsman wanted to concentrate on his personal game.
