IPL final – Daniel Vettori: Target of 200-plus was difficult to chase
The Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) lost the final of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 4, against Chennai Super Kings (CSK) by 58 runs at Chennai on the night of 28th May, 2011.
RCB captain, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Daniel-Luca-Vettori-c52306, is convinced that a target of 200 plus was too much for them to chase and their bowling performance was not up to the mark.
Vettori believed a total of around 170 runs could have been chased keeping in view the bowling strength of Chennai Super Kings.
"Would have been a http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Gordon-James-Muchall-c60376 better game if we could have put up a bowling performance like yesterday, but it was not to be. I think 200-plus was tough for us; 160-170 would have been chaseable", Vettori said.
CSK smashed RCB bowling and posted 205 runs in 20 overs. http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Mahendra-Singh-Dhoni-c73820 got 22 runs off 13 balls.

Royal Challengers Bangalore received an early blow when their in-form opener, Gayle was dismissed for a duck. They could only manage 147 runs in 20 overs. http://www.senore.com/Cricket/V-Kohli-c2737, who scored 35 runs.
Ravichandaran Ashwin was the star performer for Chennai Super Kings by grabbing three wickets, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/DJ-Bravo-c1379 shared one wicket each.
It was the second successive defeat they sustained from Chennai Super Kings in one week. They had earlier lost the 1st Qualifying match by six wickets on 24th May, 2011 at http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Mumbai-c820.
Vettori still had full praise for Royal Challengers Bangalore, who earned the top spot in the entire pool of the IPL-4, by achieving 19 points at a net run rate of +0.326.
http://www.senore.com/Cricket/CH-Gayle-c1221 earned the Orange Cap by thrashing 608 runs and became the top scorer of the event. Though his team lost in the final, he was satisfied with their overall performance and commented,
"We have lots of positives from the IPL this season. We topped the group in the league stage and that was an achievement. The dressing room atmosphere was great, though we are a bit down now".
