IPL has helped Thisara Perera says http://www.senore.com/Cricket/DPMD-Jayawardene-c1397 – Cricket News Update
The Lankan captain, Mahela Jayawardene, has given credit to http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Shaun-Maclean-Pollock-c89847 for Thisara Perera’s recent performances, stating that the young all-rounder has learned a lot from the South African coach after working with him closely during the Indian Premier
League.
"I think he is a good learner but I will be correct if I say he has worked closely with Shaun Pollock on his action during the IPL time because he wasn't playing much," Jayawardene said.
"Polly has given him some good tips with his action. Polly is a great bowler to discuss those kinds of things with. I think [it is] a great opportunity for him so with that and with fast-bowling coaches he has been working hard to get his pace, to get his
accuracy.”
Perera has made a habit of demolishing sides with his medium pace bowling, along with his subtle movement off the seam, which has caused all sorts of problems to sub-continental players in recent times.
The 23-year old’s performances in the second ODI against the mighty Indian line-up was jaw dropping where he delivered three-wicket maidens on the trot, picking out danger men in http://www.senore.com/Cricket/SK-Raina-c2539, all of whom had been good run-scoring
form from the first ODI.
He bogged down an aggressive Sehwag in his first over and eventually dismissed him on the final ball, taking a brilliant return catch. The following over, Perera got the all-important scalp of Indian run-machine, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/KC-Sangakkara-c1779.
The third over yielded similar result as Raina dragged a ball onto his stumps. The all-rounder remained wicket less from the remaining five overs but his figures of 3 for 19 had put his side in total command. The misery was then completed by http://www.senore.com/Cricket/AD-Mathews-c913
and http://www.senore.com/Cricket/SL-Malinga-c2540, both of grabbed three and two respectively as the Indians faltered on an embarrassing 138. The Lankan easily completed victory to level the series 1-1.
With many blaming the IPL as a reason for fatigue, Jayawardene had a positive take on the lucrative event. "The IPL sometimes does help some of the players."
