IPL launches “Super Sixes Challenge” competition– Cricket News Update
The Indian Premier League has introduced a new and exciting competition in this year’s edition to recognize the biggest hitters of the tournament.
The competition, which is called “Super Sixes Challenge”, will include the most powerful hitters among all the franchises, who will display their hitting prowess against a bowling machine – and the player hitting the ball the farthest distance will be deemed
as the winner.
According to game’s rule, two teams will participate in this exciting contest. Each team will nominate three players from their playing eleven. The competition comprises of two innings of twelve balls each.
As a warm up, each player will face two practice balls, before his four-ball innings. For instance, Team A will send their nominated players, who will try out their luck, following which Team B will take its turn of twelve standard deliveries, thrown at
them by a bowling machine.
The winner of the competition, the player who hits the ball the maximum distance, will be awarded one lac Indian rupees.
Five competitions are scheduled throughout the on-going tournament, where each team will be given a chance to participate. The contest will be staged after the conclusion of the IPL match between the participating teams.
The first of its five competitions took place on Sunday April 15, between Kolkata Knight Riders and Kings XI http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Punjab-c833. The battle was eagerly watched by the fans, all of whom were thrilled with the added entertaining element and supported their respective
franchises enthusiastically.
In the first round, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/David-Lawson-Miller-c53037 from Kings XI responded each ball with a six, including one which travelled a distance of 83 meters and hence, was declared the inaugural winner of the competition.
The distance covered by the ball is measured by the Hawk Eye technology in order to have most accurate measurements. At the end of the edition, the title of “DLF IPL’s longest hitter” will be given to the player who will hit the longest six, along with a
hefty prize money of Rs. 5 Lac.
