IPL media boycott....?

I have jusr read that the media are concidering boycotting the IPL matches because if tight restrictions..Why have they made it so hard for international media outlets to cover there matches?,,,

i would have thought they would want it to go all around the world..Why do you think they have put this hold on the media??

Do you think they should all just say -"Stuff them" and not cover it or should they fight for their media rights and carry on with the coverage??

Here is the link to all the contravercy....

  1. That's called cutting off your nose to spite your face. You do have to wonder about it.

  2. These issues do come up sometimes, and are sorted. This one has been sorted as well.

What Nisith said is harsh, but true (except for the mentally sick and team of idiots part). You should not had blocked him for this. But, it's ur choice.

    Edit:

Life on loan: your life is really on loan. You still can't get over that CB series phase. And one who said Symonds is a monkey is a monkey himself.

  3. I donno what the fuss is all about. Why can't these "great" media barons shell out some money. Why do they want stuff to cost peanuts? If they're actually as rich as their stock price shows they are, they shouldn't think twice before registering themselves with the BCCI.

Just because your a part of the international media doesn't give you a right to dictate terms to anyone. And NOT AT ALL WITH THE BCCI. Neither does the BCCI, nor do we Indians, care a fig about what  some multi-million cry-babies media groups have to say.

The media is biggest loser in this scenario. The media is losing out on the scoop. Only the name IPL is enough to sell itself all around the world. The way McCullum played yesterday, the news agencies should certainly reconsider their "boycott" as they are the one's losing out. People might say that this is mutual, but its a Win-win situation for the BCCI in any case !

As for the Aussies being crystal clear, well my Aussie friends, we're sailing on the freakin' same boat ain't we?. Trouble your memory and try to remember what CA had done during Sri Lanka's tour to Australia, '07.

I dont really care about what Lankans like you posing to be Australians have to save, neither does my board, neither does India. You can f-off and try to concentrate a bit on helping your country instead of making stupid accusations here. You'd be a hero in your country if you even put in 10% of the efforts you put in here !

    Thanks !

One more thing, no matter how hard you try to report and get this answer deleted, I'll see to it that it stays :-)

  4. Congrats!!!

After asking this question you Ange J have now become the most biased user in cricket section.

IPL is doing the right thing. They have sold the right to sell pictures to an American company. Now if these media companies want to get the pictures they will have to pay the money to get the pictures.Nothing is for free.

Cricket Australia did that too but you have very nicely ignored that and once again showed us how biased you can be.

And you used the word 'racist' once again.

    How can this be racist?

Do you even understand the meaning of the word 'racist'?

If IPL don't want to give their pictures for free to these rich media companies who don't want to spend a penny to get these pictures then how can that be racist?

    One and Only Ange J

    (ALWAYS BIASED)

  5. its all about money no one can publish images unless they pay a butt load of cash

i dont get their thinking the more people who hear and see it

the more popular it will become and the more money they will make.

going for the big money from the media the people who the ipl need to publicize the contest and deliver info about it to a world wide audience.

they seem  to be shooting themselves  in the foot if you ask me

    bite me  ipl

  6. All problems have been sorted out and media boycot is withdrawn.

  7. yea... there were no news agencies in the stadium as BCCI charged the news agencies a lot of money for pictures and videos...

So for example Cricinfo wants to post pictures of Kolkata vs. Bangalore in their homepage or where they have the news...

First they got the images from agencies like © AFP or © Getty... but now, they have to buy the images from LIVE CURRENT which has the rights for broadcasting and distribution for IPL matches..

The news agencies thought that it was discriminatory... so they decided simply not to buy the clips...

now see, Cricinfo doesnt have any images of the match...

They have it for the opening ceremonies but not of the match...

  8. They are greedy they want money......it's a fact

Even though all the problems have been sorted out.

  9. I thaught the IPL was all about promoting cricket.

Looks like everything is about money these days. I hope this doesn't damage cricket.

  10. strange attitude that realy

i mean they go all out to get overseas players but then they want to stop the countries these players come from reading about them

just another case of indian cricket bullying

well i tell you what they can have their ipl and shove it

  11. Why are you concerned about it Gilly!! You have no interest in IPL. Nor you, nor cossy, wonker, bite me, jake and ur team. So why are you concerned about whether they restrict international media or not.

And now that you call indians racist, correct me if i am wrong, but didn't the australia sri lanka series faced threats of  media blackout because

"CA wanted to charge money for media credentials, and to own the rights to the images shot, and to make press agencies pay licensing fees in order to distribute their own images."

Gee CA and IPL seems to belong to the same league. And let me tell you that these restrictions apply on Indian agencies as well. But The Press Trust of India, India's leading news agency, had said it would cover the event "under protest".

And the reason NMC boycotts IPL is because they are not allowed to post the photographs taken by them on their websites in order to protect rights of Live Current Media Inc. who has brought these rights. And Live Current Media is a canadian company. Man Indians are so racist. I don't know why they didn't give this to an indian company.

I don't what made you say indian media is racist.

The truth is u r mentally sick and so is ur team of idiots.

  12. its simple equation of money ..

it has to balanced in both sides.

and since they spend a h**l lots of money in this tournament they tried all sort of ways to milk it out.

    its weired of course..

they have to find some way out of this problem ..

its new and willl need some time to settle things..

  13. Isn't it a disgrace?  IPL is not sport but it's all about money, money money, greedy guts they are, if not for my favourite aussies playing for them I wont wake up at 2am to watch it and even that I only watch when aussies are batting lol
