IPL5: Adam Gilchrist backs batsmen to fire against Chennai Super Kings – Cricket News Update
http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Adam-Gilchrist-c918, skipper Kings XI Punjab, backed batsmen to fire in the 37th match of the Indian Premier League, against the reigning champions, Chennai Super Kings, on Saturday, April 28, 2012.
Gilchrist, the former Australian cricketer, has faith in his team’s capabilities and believes that they can overcome the mighty CSK at MA Chidambaram Stadium, Chepauk.
Punjab’s batting unit struggled during the opening phase of IPL; however, the batsmen are now dovetailing perfectly with each other. In the last three outings, Punjab has managed to score in excess of 160, which is a good sign
for Gilchrist and his men.
Content with the batting performance of Punjab in the last three games, Gilchrist said, “In each match we are trying to improve on our performance. In the last three games they have definitely improved and have made contributions.
The top order batsmen have been giving solid starts. The domestic stars have not scored huge runs but they have improved their batting performances definitely.”
Punjab hasn’t had the best of starts in this edition of IPL, the team co-owned by the Bollywood http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Michael-Di-Venuto-c1954, Preity Zinta, finds themselves in the bottom half of the points table after suffering five defeats from eight games and need
to win the match, in order to keep their hopes of reaching the play-offs alive.
Gilly knows that playing against CSK would be an uphill task. He said, “Every match is important to us. It is a challenge playing defending champions. So it is an important game for us.”
http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Punjab-c833 will not only have to face Chennai Super Kings at their own backyard. But they will also have to cope with the heat and humidity in Chennai.
However, Gilchrist believes that conditions will not play that big a role, as the match will be played in the evening when the atmosphere becomes quite pleasant.
Gilchrist, the left-handed batsman, will not be part of Punjab’s playing XI when they take on the defending champions. The former Australian is yet to recover from the hamstring injury that he picked in the match against Kolkata
Knight Riders on Wednesday, April 18.
