IPL5: Adjusting to different formats not an issue with http://www.senore.com/Cricket/DPMD-Jayawardene-c1397 – Cricket News Update
Mahela Jayawardene, the Sri Lankan skipper, will play for the http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Delhi-c780 Daredevils in the fifth edition of the Indian Premier League, and he is unfazed by the shift in formats. The Lankan skipper believes that for a professional cricketer, switching between different formats should not be a big issue, considering the amount of cricket being played these days.
Jayawardene was leading http://www.senore.com/Cricket/India-c750 on Sunday to take part in IPL5.
When asked whether he will have any difficulty switching to the Twenty20 format, Jayawardene said, “Playing IPL after playing Test cricket doesn't make a difference as these days we keep changing from one format to another very quickly.”
He continued, “Two months ago, I was playing ODIs and two weeks ago, I was then into Test cricket, so we have to learn to adjust from one form to another. It's all in the mind how we re-focus ourselves to do a different job.”
Jayawardene will join forces with English cricketer http://www.senore.com/Cricket/KP-Pietersen-c1806, and these two played against each other during England’s tour of Sri Lanka. The two iconic cricketers had to miss the first couple of games of the IPL5 because of the Test series. Both batters were keen on outperforming each other during the series but will work together as a team for the Daredevils, and it is something that Jayawardene is looking forward to.
The Lankan international said that he and KP discussed a few things on their way to India and are excited with the talent in Delhi’s rank.
He said, “We had discussions about the opportunity we have in hand to play with new players and for both of us it's a good challenge.”
The Daredevils' batting proved to be mediocre in the first two games, even though they won their opening fixture against the Kolkata Knight Riders. The inclusion of Pietersen and Jayawardene will certainly boost Delhi’s chances, and they will fancy themselves for the IPL trophy.
Delhi’s next encounter is against the Chennai Super Kings on Tuesday, April 10 at the Feroz Shah Kotla, and Jayawardene, along with Pietersen is certain to be part of the playing XI.
