Cameron White, the Australian cricketer, finally ended his lean patch with the bat. The right-hander, who has the reputation of being one of the cleanest hitters of the cricket ball, played a swashbuckling innings of 78 runs that powered Deccan Chargers to 177. In reply, Pune Warriors, led by http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Sourav-Chandidas-Ganguly-c90746, could only muster 159 runs.
White, who was the Player of the Match, hoped that this win over Pune will kick start Chargers’ IPL campaign, as they are placed at the bottom of the table after suffering five straight defeats.
He said, “It was nice to hit a few in the middle. Was a bit out of form. It's a good feeling to get a win, been under pressure as a team. Hopefully it's the start of a few wins in a row.”
White was seen in a bit of distress during Warriors’ innings. The 28-year-old had to leave the field to get his knee treated in the fifth over. However, the right-handed batsman has dismissed any injury concerns.
“Couple of cramps in the calves but I'm okay,” said White.
http://www.senore.com/Cricket/KC-Sangakkara-c1779, skipper Deccan Chargers, was a relieved man after the win. The Sri Lankan international was glad to see his plans unravel nicely.
Sangakkara praised the efforts of his men, with a special emphasis on White. He said, “Finally on the board, a great effort, especially by Cameron White with the bat. We played Rusty (Theron) for a purpose and he was outstanding. It's important to defend a total and not only to get a big one on board. Young (Ashish) Reddy was great as well.”
The losing captain, Ganguly, rued the reckless bowling from Pune. Warriors conceded a few more runs than Ganguly had anticipated and in the end that was the difference between the two sides.
Lamenting the loss, Ganguly said, “As I said at the toss I would have fielded, we gave away 15-20 runs extra.”
