IPL5: Chennai Super Kings clinch a four-wicket win over Rajasthan Royals – Cricket News Update
Chennai Super Kings are still in contention for the play-offs after clinching a four-wicket win over Rajasthan Royals in the 56th game of Indian Premier League (IPL5), played on Thursday, May 10, 2012.
It was a low scoring fixture at Sawai Mansingh Stadium, Jaipur which the reigning champions managed to win in 18.1 overs.
CSK bowlers were able to restrict http://www.senore.com/Cricket/R-Dravid-c2229. The pacer did not allow Rajasthan’s batsmen any freedom, as only eight runs were scored from the four overs that he bowled.
However, Hilfenhaus’ special bowling efforts would have accounted for nothing had it not been for the little cameo’s of http://www.senore.com/Cricket/JA-Morkel-c1613 (18) and S Anirudha (18). The two lower-order batsmen shared an unbeaten stand of 43 runs for the seventh wicket which saw CSK over the finish line.

“Leaving it too late is not something we do intentionally, our top six needs to perform. We don’t have too many big fifties. The pressure mounts on the lower order batsmen. As the tournament progresses, we need to get going, the batsmen are coming under pressure early and they need to bat freely,” said a disgruntled captain.
CSK, who were chasing a minute total, made a mess of things. The defending champions kept on losing wickets after every interval and this caused the required run rate to creep up. At one stage the required rate had sky-rocketed to 10 runs per over but Morkel and Anirudha kept their cool and finished off the match with 11 still left to be played.
Dhoni was happy with how Anirudha grabbed the given opportunity. He said, “Srikkanth is an exciting youngster, you got to grab your opportunities, and that is what he has done. We have tried to bat him up the order but at times we need to continue allocating the same roles that we have done earlier.”
