IPL5: Darren Lehmann blasts Deccan Chargers fielding – Cricket News Update
http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Darren-Scott-Lehmann-c52487, the former Australian cricketer and the coach of Deccan Chargers, was not at all happy with the fielding efforts of his side in the match against Rajasthan Royals played at Sawai Mansingh Stadium, Jaipur on Tuesday,
April 17.
The head coach of Chargers blamed dull fielding as the primary reason behind Deccan’s five-wicket loss to Rajasthan. Lehmann held that Chargers fielded as if an under-14 team was participating in the IPL match.
Lehmann said, “We should have taken the catches and should not have allowed the ball pass between the legs while fielding. It was like an under-14 team on the ground.”
Deccan Chargers, who posted a gigantic total of 196 runs in their innings, were well below power in the field against http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Rajasthan-c837. The visitors dropped quite a few catches and this haunted them in the end.
Lehmann believes that Chargers, who are placed at bottom of table and are yet to win a match in this season of IPL, should have gone up by two games instead of being down by three.
The former Australian said, “It was really disappointing to suffer three defeats in a row. In fact it should have been 2-1 because it was a flip of the coin case against http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Mumbai-c820 and same here. We bowled badly with the new ball but
then it was same for both teams.”
Chargers had a good start to the match. The wicket was placid and batsmen dominated the match. http://www.senore.com/Cricket/S-Dhawan-c2392, put on 94 runs for the opening wicket, batsmen who followed continued
on the same path as the innings came to a close at 196.
Sangakkara was not impressed with the way bowlers conceded runs. The Sri Lankan cricketer held that batsmen did their part by scoring big and all that required was a decent effort from bowlers.
“3 games in a row now, we have ourselves to blame but they played very well. We got a great total but we had to back it up with a solid performance with the ball,” said Sangakkara.
